Days of Mercy + + +

“Father most merciful, we confess our faith in Christ
with our words,
Keep us from denying him in our actions.”
(From the Daily Office)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Oh God,
How am I not being me today?
How am I not being my true self?
How am I denying the Christ who lives in me,
as me, through me?
Oh God,
Keep me from sabotaging all that you created me to be.
Help me to be my best self now!
May I have the patience of God for the mercy towards others
and towards myself.
May I be Christ-like in compassion and justice,
through Jesus Christ, my Lord, I pray. Amen
WHAT IS YOUR WORD FOR 2017?
WHAT IS YOUR WORD FOR 2017?
Many of us have the delightful practice to be guided by
a particular word each year. My year actually begins
with Advent . . . when I sit in silent retreat time and listen
for a word to be given.
My word (s) for 2017 is SPIRIT and TRUTH.
My intention is to be guided by the Spirit each moment of my life
in the Truth of Christ . . . which is all love and joy and peace.
Each week perhaps I’ll share a bit from the in-sights I am given through this spiritual practice, and I’d love for you to also share what the Spirit is revealing to you as well . . . that we might encourage one another and build up the body of Christ.
What is your word for 2017?
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
Psalm 119:105
With All Of My Life
With all of my life
I shall praise You, O Lord;
With all of my life
I shall worship in Your Holy Place;
With all of my life
I shall honor Your words of life
and truth and grace;
With all of my life
I shall be servant to those in need.
With all of my life
I shall be all that You created me to be . . .
The hands, the feet, the voice of Christ
onto the world;
And then, at each day’s end
I shall lie down and rest in peace,
for I have gratefully given You fully
all of my life.
Merciful Love
Merciful Love
Anna Lin,
One of Grace and Beauty,
dweller in Merciful Love ~ ~ ~
This Rose I give to you
as essence of the love you’re meant to be,
Gift of the sorrow that has ruled your pain.
Now meant to open as the flower of Love,
Fragrance of myrrh that wise ones
through you bring . . .
mingled with grief of all that you have been.
Know this,
that now the petals bloom,
show forth this Beauty . . . Love and Grace unfold.
Take now the story of your toil,
raise it to life,
so others too may heal.
Wonderful mercy of a gentle flower,
abundant blessing given
amidst the thorns.
Nourish compassion in the way of peace,
Fervently follow the way of Christ, your Lord.
There is such Love,
poured out upon you now . . .
Anointing the remembrance
of broken hearted dreams.
No longer shall the fears infest your soul
for you are raised to triumph as a King’s
most cherished being.
Tinged with age, but still calls me forth to new life ~ ~ ~
Once More . . .
Once more to winter-worn spirits
nature has given spring,
Once more in mountain and meadow,
birds have started to sing;
Trees flaunt traces of reborn green,
Spring brooks sparkle their banks between,
For the warmth of a high-hung sun
resurrection has begun.
Once more Easter anthems
gladden the morning air,
Once more joy in hope renewed
is evidenced everywhere;
Glad hearts quicken life’s pulsing flow,
Faces are lit with an inner glow,
For once more we can say,
“Christ the Lord is risen today!”
Each Day We Begin Again
HSS  7d42c57204c2410d6644f9f3651af593
On this day I am remembering Francis de Sales, the patron saint of
authors, journalists and writers. His story reminds me that even the
most saintly people have struggles just like the rest of us.
Francis de Sales took seriously the words of Christ, “Learn of me for I am
meek and humble of heart. (also part of my own ordination passage)
He tell us: “The person who possesses Christian meekness is affectionate and tender towards everyone: he is disposed to forgive and excuse the frailties of others; the goodness of his heart appears in a sweet affability that influences his words and actions, presents every object to his view in the most charitable and pleasing light.”
And yet, as he himself once said, it took him 20 years to overcome his quick temper. Still no one ever suspected he had such a problem, as his usual manner of acting was so overflowing with good nature and kindness.
. . . and so. . . each day. . . we begin again.
It Cannot Be Denied
It Cannot Be Denied
Only Jesus ~ Christ alone
I have learned to love and honor God
through him – the Savior of my Soul
My love is deep
do not deny it
by trying to pretend otherwise
for it cannot be denied
  • it is the ground of my being
  • it is the truth of my essence
  • it is the healing of my soul
this love that dwells within
and cannot be denied
Let this love reign
Let this love heal
to soothe my bitter woes.
I sit within my silent realm
to know this love of Christ
No greater love than this can be –
it cannot be denied.
This Christmas Day
Nativity scene
This is the joy of Christmas morn,
When creatures of God in mirth
Sing carols of peace, and hope, and love
To tell of our Savior’s birth.
No eye has seen, no mind has known
The wonder of this great gift;
Yet still we look to see the babe
With joy our hearts to lift.
Hush now child upon the hay
Angels watch ’til dawn,
Glistening radiance sent to say
Christ the Lord is born.
A God Who Became One Of Us ~~ A Christmas Story
There was once a man who didn’t believe in God, and he didn’t hesitate to let others know how he felt about religious holidays like Christmas. His wife however, did believe, and she raised their children to also have faith in God and, His Son, Jesus, The Christ, despite his disparaging comments…
One snowy Christmas Eve, his wife was taking their children to a Christmas Eve service in the farm community in which they lived. She asked him to come, but he refused. “That story is nonsense!” he said. “Why would God lower Himself to come to Earth as a man? That’s ridiculous!” So she and the children left, and he stayed home.
A while later, the winds grew stronger and the snow turned into a blizzard. As the man looked out the window, all he saw was a blinding snowstorm. He sat down to relax before the fire for the evening. Then he heard a loud thump. Something had hit the window. Then another thump. He looked out, but couldn’t see more than a few feet. When the snow let up a little, he ventured outside to see what could have been beating on his window. In the field near his house he saw a flock of wild geese. Continue reading
In spite of the dazzle and tinsel of Christmas there is a deeper meaning that we can know if we shall rest a moment to ponder and see . . . .
~ that Christ came to reveal the true nature of God as LOVE
At Christmas we experience the unique wonder of our faith . . .
~ that God chose to come to earth in search of us . . . humans
. . . and dwelt among us . . . as love and grace.
In spite of all of the distractions and busyness and stress,
Christmas is a time to contemplate this mystery and to celebrate
the powerful message of God’s love, joy, peace and hope that is
given to us through Jesus, the Christ.
May we find room in our hearts to receive this gift of LOVE today.
O holy Child of Bethlehem,
Descend to us, we pray;
Cast out our sin, and enter in,
Be born in us today.
We hear the Christmas angels
The great glad tidings tell;
O come to us, abide with us,
Our Lord Emmanuel!    ~ Phillip Brooks
