Days of Mercy + + +

“Father most merciful, we confess our faith in Christ
with our words,
Keep us from denying him in our actions.”
(From the Daily Office)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Oh God,
How am I not being me today?
How am I not being my true self?
How am I denying the Christ who lives in me,
as me, through me?
Oh God,
Keep me from sabotaging all that you created me to be.
Help me to be my best self now!
May I have the patience of God for the mercy towards others
and towards myself.
May I be Christ-like in compassion and justice,
through Jesus Christ, my Lord, I pray. Amen
A Lenten Journey + 40 Days of Mercy + + +
bb2456c37c6206061d89a8b8f50aa4301
Dear Friends,
Tomorrow, as the season of Lent begins, I invite you to walk the path of Jesus with me + which is all love, compassion, and grace . . . .  40 Days of Mercy + + +
During Lent it is customary to give up something, as a sign of penitence.
Therefore, let us give up hatred, anger, meanness, gossip, bullying,
bitterness, arrogance and self-pity.
May we be empowered by the Spirit and filled with the Love of God
to heal ourselves and heal the world through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Lord, in your mercy, may it be so.
Anna Lin +
Put away from you all bitterness and wrath and anger and wrangling
and slander, together with all malice, and be kind to one another,
forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you.
Therefore, be imitators of God, as beloved children,
and live in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us,
a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. Ephesians 4:31-32; 5:1-2
What Is True For Me?
Going Deeper ~ ~ Reflections ~ ~ What is True for Me?
As I mentioned earlier, since December I have been reflecting on my word for 2017, which happens to be TRUTH!
Please note: It is not my intention to be political here. I actually wrote this before the recent events of the day; but now the whole world is actually focusing on the word Truth.
In my personal reflective time I began asking: What is true for me?
Our character tells the truth about who we really are, ideally revealing
honesty, integrity, authenticity, faithfulness . . . being honorable, sincere,
pure.
We live in a time of deception when it is difficult to know truth from falsehood. . . where some think that if something is said over and over again people will believe it’s true. We even do this to ourselves. . .
pretending we are what we are not . . . covering over our lives with lies and deceit about our character . . . our deeds . . . our life’s purpose.
Like the apostle Paul, I catch myself doing this again and again.
“ I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. . . For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing.” (Romans 7: 15 & 20)
Or, we may be too hard on ourselves . . . only focusing on our mistakes, our weaknesses, our failures.
Dear friends, Let us be honest about our lives. What is true for me?
Each year I find it helpful to take an honest assessment of my life.
I make a list of all of my strengths and all of my weaknesses.
Then I give thanks and celebrate my strengths and look for ways I can build on these strengths.
But I am also aware of my short-comings and realize that it is my weaknesses that keep me seeking daily communion with a loving God through Jesus Christ. I ask for God’s help to turn these into strengths.
Dear friends, God will use us just as we are!
Of that we can be sure.
God’s grace is true!
Gracious God ~ ~ Holy One,
Lead us into the freedom of the Spirit through Jesus Christ . . .
Shining the Light out of darkness.
By your loving kindness free us from our choices
to go astray.
Give to us all that is needed to serve you faithfully.
Inflame our hearts with the fire of your love.
Fill us with the Light and Life of your Spirit
to be witnesses to your kingdom here on earth.
Help us to be loving in all we do and say.
Through Jesus Christ we pray. Amen
As the year draws to a close . . .
nt-pr-ae7e56b63f2ad8279bfda7a850dde584
As this year draws to a close, receive My Peace.
This is still your deepest need, and I, your Prince of Peace,
long to pour Myself into your neediness.
My abundance and your emptiness are a perfect match.
I designed you to have no sufficiency of your own.
I created you as a jar of clay, set apart for sacred use.
I want you to be filled with My very Being,
permeated through and through with Peace.
Thank Me for My peaceful Presence, regardless of your feelings.
Whisper My Name in loving tenderness.
My Peace, which lives continually in your spirit,
will gradually work its way through your entire being.
~ Sarah Young, in Jesus Calling
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit,
whom the Father will send in my name,
will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance
all that I have said to you.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.
Not as the world gives do I give to you.
Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
John 14:26-27
Easter Joy and Gladness
This day of Joy and Gladness
now comes to raise me up
To live a life of praises
for new life that is given.
For Jesus, You have triumphed
and shown us all the way
To overcome the challenges
that keep us laid away.
So hidden in the tombs
that bind us ever still
Lying in dead silence
no voice to do Your will.
Come, take my hand
and raise me up
into the glorious heights
That I may serve in faithfulness
my days as shining Light.
It Cannot Be Denied
TH  119f099b349a454e46e92aa6f87f9896
It Cannot Be Denied
Only Jesus ~ Christ alone
I have learned to love and honor God
through him – the Savior of my Soul
My love is deep
do not deny it
by trying to pretend otherwise
for it cannot be denied
  • it is the ground of my being
  • it is the truth of my essence
  • it is the healing of my soul
this love that dwells within
and cannot be denied
Let this love reign
Let this love heal
to soothe my bitter woes.
I sit within my silent realm
to know this love of Christ
No greater love than this can be –
it cannot be denied.
Who Is God?
In spite of the dazzle and tinsel of Christmas there is a deeper meaning that we can know if we shall rest a moment to ponder and see . . . .
~ that Christ came to reveal the true nature of God as LOVE
At Christmas we experience the unique wonder of our faith . . .
~ that God chose to come to earth in search of us . . . humans
. . . and dwelt among us . . . as love and grace.
In spite of all of the distractions and busyness and stress,
Christmas is a time to contemplate this mystery and to celebrate
the powerful message of God’s love, joy, peace and hope that is
given to us through Jesus, the Christ.
May we find room in our hearts to receive this gift of LOVE today.
O holy Child of Bethlehem,
Descend to us, we pray;
Cast out our sin, and enter in,
Be born in us today.
We hear the Christmas angels
The great glad tidings tell;
O come to us, abide with us,
Our Lord Emmanuel!    ~ Phillip Brooks
